Prairie
Gathering
A
primitive, prairie gathering comprising of a prairie doll
with strawberry, a large pig pillow, a small crow pillow
and
a sprig of sweet Annie tied with cheesecloth. The wooden trencher
and fir cones are not included in the
price.
The
prairie doll is made from tea-dyed muslin,
with an earth-toned cotton dress, muslin loons and a burlap
apron to blend with her pillows. Her sun bonnet is
made of muslin. Tied around her body is a large
strawberry made of red and cream calico with string pulled
seeds. The leafy top is made of painted osnaburg.
She has been lightly antiqued to give her an old appearance.
The
pig and crow pillows are made from burlap which has been
antiqued. The pig is made from wool felt with a muslin
strip. He has wooden legs tied onto the pillow with
string. His ears and the crow on his back are made
from 50 year old vintage homespun fabric. He has a
black bead eye. The large crow is also made from
vintage homespun . The strawberry is made of slightly
stuffed calico fabric, with hand embroidered leaf top and
French knots as seeds. The long dangling vine is
crochet floss hand-sewn with tiny stitches.
